Toad Busters Expands to Australia to Tackle Growing Cane Toad Epidemic

Toad Busters, the leading invasive species prevention and removal company serving Boca Raton and most of southern and central Florida, announced the creation of Toad Busters International to serve the growing needs for niche invasive species services in Australia—specifically the cane toad, formerly known as the Bufo toad.

Based on numerous inquiries from Australian homeowners seeking solutions to their invasive species problems, Jeannine Tilford, Founder of Toad Busters, traveled to Australia to personally assess the situation.  To Tilford’s surprise, the pervasiveness of the cane toad population was far worse than anticipated.  Cane toads are toxic, poisonous and deadly to pets, livestock and, in some cases, humans.

“Australia is a beautiful country that proudly embraces and protects its ecology and environment,” said Tilford, a global invasive species expert.  “Upon my arrival, I was astounded at the level of cane toad infestation, but even more shocked by the lack of services for homeowners to properly protect their pets and young children from the deadly cane toad.  We’re excited to create Toad Busters International to aggressively address this issue to protect Australia’s pets, livestock and people.”

Toad Busters International is already serving the state of Queensland, and other areas across Australia, to battle cane toad populations via regularly scheduled cane toad removal services, along with preventive measures such as its Pet Protect Fencing that obstructs cane toads’ ability to access a homeowner’s outdoor property.  Additionally, Toad Busters International will make available to Aussies its Cane Toad Emergency Poisoning Emergency Response Kit, which provides pet owners with additional precious time to bring their pets to a veterinarian for emergency care.

To manage its Australian operations, Tilford selected Matt Brine as a partner in Toad Busters International.  In this position, Brine will manage all aspects of the business operations.  The business relationship began when Brine contacted Toad Busters after the devastating loss of his beloved dog, Billy, due to cane toad poisoning.  Tilford stated that Brine’s sincere determination and passion to eliminate cane toads in Australia, along with his relevant business skills, made him the obvious choice to oversee Toad Busters’ expansion into Australia.

“I’m excited to become a part of Toad Busters International and help turn the tide against invasive species, namely the destructive cane toad,” said Brine.  “The expertise, passion and track record of Toad Busters is quite impressive.  I look forward to providing the same level of service and energy to all our clients.”

To provide a comprehensive, multi-prong approach to reducing the cane toad population in Australia, Toad Busters International also created a strategic partnership with Watergum, a non-profit organization that deploys tadpole traps to disrupt the breeding cycles of cane toads.

Future plans for Toad Busters International include the assessment of other invasive species, such as the toxic New Guinea flatworm, and formulating environmentally friendly solutions to protect Australia’s ecology and native species.

Toad Busters is a leading provider of environmentally-friendly and humane solutions for the reduction and management of cane toad (A.K.A. bufo toad) populations and other invasive species.  Through its expert knowledge, innovative techniques and sustainable practices, Toad Busters is protecting pets, people and fragile ecosystems via the removal of toxic, deadly cane toads.  In addition to cane toad removal services, Toad Busters also provides Pet Protect Fencing to prevent cane toads from accessing homeowners’ properties and Cane Toad Emergency Poisoning Emergency Response Kits.  Learn more about Toad Busters (USA) at www.ToadBusters.com and Toad Busters International at www.ToadBusters.com.au.
